ChinaTravelHowTo is for people visiting China for the first time. It covers the practical side of the trip: paying with your phone, getting online, booking trains and getting through entry.

Where the questions come from

Most of our guides start as questions travelers post on forums, on Reddit and under China travel videos. When the same question keeps appearing, we write a guide for it. You can also send us a question.

Keeping guides up to date

Each guide shows the date it was last checked at the top, and lists the sources used for fees, rules and procedures at the bottom. Visa and payment rules change often, so those guides are reviewed every month.

How the site is paid for

Some links, such as eSIM and train-ticket bookings, are affiliate links. If you book through one, we may earn a commission. You pay the same price, and it doesn’t affect what we recommend. Details are in our affiliate disclosure.

Corrections

If you spot something wrong or out of date, tell us through the question form. We correct it and update the date on the guide.
